Swissport Kenya and NCBA have partnered to grow 10,000 trees at Uplands Forest Station in Kiambu County as part of efforts to support forest restoration and Kenya’s climate action agenda.
The initiative, implemented under Swissport Kenya’s Green Skies Kenya programme, received support from NCBA through the donation of 10,000 tree seedlings.
During the initial exercise, 5,000 seedlings were planted, with the remaining 5,000 scheduled for planting over the coming months.
The exercise brought together staff from both companies, the Kenya Forest Service (KFS), airline partners and members of the local community.
Swissport Kenya chief executive Racheal Ndegwa said the initiative was intended to translate the company’s environmental commitments into practical conservation activities.
“Through Green Skies Kenya, we are turning this commitment into tangible action by supporting forest conservation while bringing our colleagues and partners together around a shared purpose,” Ndegwa said.
The initiative also supports NCBA’s Change The Story sustainability platform, which aims to support the growing of 10 million trees by 2030.

NCBA says it has planted more than two million trees through partnerships with government agencies, communities and private-sector organisations.
Ann Nderi, NCBA’s head of group sustainability, said collaboration between businesses, public agencies and communities was important in addressing environmental challenges.
“Our contribution of 10,000 tree seedlings reflects our commitment to environmental stewardship and our ambition to support Kenya’s forest restoration efforts,” Nderi said.
She added that the bank’s tree-growing programme was intended to support long-term environmental conservation rather than one-off planting events.
The partnership brings together aviation services, banking and forest management stakeholders in an initiative aimed at expanding tree cover and supporting restoration efforts at Uplands Forest Station.
