Shanzu Member of County Assembly (MCA) Allen Katana was arrested on Monday after leading a peaceful protest against what he described as persistent land injustices affecting Kisauni residents in Mombasa County.

The protest, which drew dozens of locals from various wards within Kisauni Sub-County, began at Makadara Grounds. Demonstrators intended to march to the office of the Mombasa Governor, but police intervened and arrested Katana shortly after the procession started.

A source who requested anonymity said that historical land injustices have long plagued Kisauni residents.

“We are now living in fear. We do not know what will happen next. Threats have become part of our daily lives,” the source lamented.

Before his arrest, Katana claimed that he had been receiving threats from unknown individuals.

“My phone is full of threats. But I want to say that I will not be intimidated,” he said.

Katana further hinted at his political ambitions, revealing plans to vie for the Kisauni parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election.

“My focus now is the Kisauni Parliamentary seat. My people deserve proper representation,” he added.

He also criticized what he termed as poor leadership, saying it had worsened the plight of Kisauni residents.
