Zambian High Commissioner to Kenya Brenda Muntemba has succumbed to injuries sustained during a road crash in Lukenya, Machakos County last month
The accident also involved her Botswana’s counterpart Duke Lephoko.
Kenya’s Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Macharia Kamau confirmed Muntemba died on Wednesday at the Nairobi Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where she was receiving treatment.
The two sustained injuries after Muntemba’s car collided head-on with a lorry.
Lephoko’s car, which was following closely, then rammed into the stalled vehicle.
The accident occurred while they were on their way to Nairobi from a meeting at Maanzoni Lodge in Athi River, a short distance from the scene of the incident.
After the crash they were admitted at the Machakos level 5 hospital before being flown to Nairobi.
Before her appointment as High Commissioner, Muntemba served as Southern Province Police Commissioner and Chief Program Officer at UNESCO in Zambia.
