The Borana Community in Marsabit County has sworn in Marsabit Women Representative Naomi Waqo for her gubernatorial bid in 2027 general election.

The event happened in Moyale in Marsabit county on Friday.

Nominated senator Miraj Abdillahi who also in attended the graceful event lauded the move saying women leaders play a significant role in nation building.

In her official Facebook page, Miraj said the Borana community has taken a bold step in shaping up the politics in the area.

‘’I would like to applaud the Borana community elders for their overwhelming support. I want to call on women to work hard,’’ she said.

She noted that like their fellow male politicians’ women can spur the country to economic progress should they be granted the space.
The vocal senator called on women to work tirelessly in order to take leadership roles in the country.
Miraj pointed out ‘’We can do a lot more than our fellow men leaders, ‘’
She further wished Waqo all the best in her future endeavors as she serves the county in her capacity as a woman representative.
