Veteran journalist Joe Kadhi is dad.

Kadhi passed away on Wednesday, while undergoing treatment at a Nairobi hospital.

His family said the veteran journalist will be buried onToday in accordance with the Islamic rites.

He worked for Nation Media Group as managing editor for Daily Nation.

He also taught journalism at the University of Nairobi, Addis Ababa University and the United States International University (USIU).

Deputy President William Ruto described Kadhi as a dedicated and a gifeted journalist.

“Joe Kadhi was a truly gifted, dedicated and enthusiastic journalist who leaves behind an extraordinary body of work. Our thoughts and prayers to the family and the media fraternity. Rest In Peace,” wrote Ruto on his Twitter handle.

Royal Media Services editorial director Linus Kaikai while mourning Kadhi’s demise said that the media industry had lost a pioneer of the golden generation and mentor.

“SAD day; veteran journalist JOE KADHI has passed on. We have lost a mentor, professional guardian, legendary trainer and a pioneer of the golden generation,” he said.
