President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday nominated Hilary Mutyambai to be the next Inspector General of Police following the end of Joseph Boinnet’s tenure
Through executive order number 4 of 2019, Uhuru named the outgoing police boss Joseph Boinnet as the Chief Administrative Secretary ministry of tourism and tourism.
Eastern Regional Commissioner Wycliffe Ogallo was named the Commissioner General for Prisons, Brig Vincent Naisho Loonena as the Director General of Kenya Coast Guard Service and Brig John Migui Waweru Director General of Kenya Wildlife Service.
The announcement comes after days of speculations and lobbying.
The IG serves as the Chief Executive Officer for the national police service.
He is in charge of the 100,000 personnel in KPS, APS, Directorate of Criminal Investigations and General Service Unit.
Mutyambai will be vetted before being confirmed.
