Two students, bodaboda rider die in grisly road accident

Two pupils and a bodaboda rider were Monday morning killed after their motorbike was hit an FH truck at Mibuyu saba in Kilifi along the Mombasa-Malindi.

Kilifi north sub county police commander Jonathan Koech confirmed the incident.

Koech said the truck was heading towards Malindi direction and was trying to overtake another motor vehicle.

The pupils are siblings

“The accident occurred around 7.00am. The students were heading to school. Both of them and the rider died on the spot,” said Koech

He said the driver was also drunk.

“We subjected him to the Alco blow and we established that he had taken alcohol beyond the amount allowed to drive,” he added

According to eyewitnesses, the driver Duncan Maganga, 35 had knocked a tuktuk and was trying to escape from the scene.

He was roughed up by members of the public before he was rescued by the police.

The pupils, Dominic Gift, 12 and Tina Mkacharo are students are students at Kilimo primary school.

They are in class four and seven.

The deceased were taken to Kilifi county referral hospital mortuary.
