Two members of the Kilifi County Assembly narrowly escaped death on Monday morning after their vehicle was involved in a fatal accident along the Kilifi–Malindi highway.

Mwarakaya Ward MCA Hamphrey Lewa Mkadi and his Mnarani counterpart Juma Chengo sustained minor injuries when their car collided with a motorcycle rider who was transporting eggs. The accident occurred in the Kilodi area.

Confirming the incident, MCA Chengo said they were in stable condition, but unfortunately, the motorcycle rider died on the spot.

Witnesses at the scene said the MCAs were attempting to overtake a lorry when they struck the motorcyclist. The two leaders were reportedly on their way to Malindi at the time of the accident.
