Two people have succumbed to injuries following a grisly road accident involving two Nissan matatus near Shaurimoyo along the Mombasa Malindi highway on Sunday evening.

The two, a woman and a student were rushed to coast referral hospital in critical condition.

They died on Monday morning while undergoing treatment.

According to police sources, the accident occurred after one of the drivers who was heading to Kilifi drove on the wrong side while avoiding to hit a cow which he allegedly saw crossing the road.

After the crash, the cow was nowhere within the accident scene.

Seven of the students are among those who sustained serious injuries while six sustained slight injuries. Four casualties were referred to the coast referral hospital,” said Ngigi

One of the deceased, Kibibi Abdulrahman was coming from a burial in Kilifi. She was travelling with her sister Fauzia who sustained a broken hand.
