Five students of Technical University of Mombasa are nursing injuries at the Coast General Hospital after they were attacked by a Kisauni gang.

The students were walking home on Tuesday evening when a gang ambushed them with knives.

“I know there has been an attack but we are yet to find out the victims,” Kisauni Police boss Julius Kiragu said.

One of the students is reported to have sustained deep cuts on his head.

Following the attacks, TUM student union, TUMSA has planned for a peaceful demonstration on Wednesday.

TUMSA Academic secretary Harry Sululu has already notified the police of their intent to hold the demonstration.

“We the students of Technical University of Mombasa wish to exercise article 31 of the constitution to assemble and picket peacefully and express our dissatisfaction with the rate of insecurity in Kisauni constituency.” Reads the letter in part

The letter is addressed to Makupa Police Station OCS and Mombasa Police Commander.

The protests comes barely a day after Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) was closed indefinately as student went on rampage protesting rising insecurity cases near the school.
