Two relatives are among three people that died on Monday night after a tuk-tuk collided head on with a canter at Kwa Kazuri along the Kilifi Malindi high way.
Edgar Kadzo and Kilian Chiro are both tuk-tuk drivers plying the Kilifi-Chumani route.
They both died on the spot.
Confirming the accident, Kilifi North Sub county police commander Kenneth Maina said two people including the driver of the tuk-tuk died on the spot while the third person succumbed while receiving treatment at the Kilifi county referral hospital.
Three other people in the tuk-tuk are admitted to the Kilifi County referral hospital. Two are in critical condition.
He said the accident occurred at around 10pm.

“The tuktuk was overloaded and was heading towards Tezo from Kilifi. It had six people including the driver. On reaching the area of the accident, the tuktuk driver was overtaking a trailer and collided head-on with the lorry.
Fredrick Kadzo, a relative to the deceased said he spoke to the two on Monday evening.
“Edgar is my brother and Chiro is my nephew. They are all tuk tuk drivers and they were on their way home in Tezo when the accident happened. One of them was driving. They had picked up passengers in Kilifi and they were to drop them in Tezo then proceed home. I talked to them in the evening and at around 10; 30pm I received the news of their demise through an accident. It is painful to lose two relatives at the same time,” he said
The bodies were moved to the Kilifi county hospital funeral home awaiting post-mortem.
