Grief has engulfed Mkwachuni village in Voi sub-county, Taita Taveta County after an 81-year-old man committed suicide in his house.
According to a police report, Daniel Iligha handed himself on Thursday evening after leaving a suicide note.
The matter was reported to the Voi Police Station by area assistant chief Gibran Tumo.
In the note, Iligha ordered his family not to mourn him as he had accomplished his mission.
“Do not cry for me because I have fully completed my work. I have brought you up and you are now adults who can take care of yourselves,” the note reads.
He further asked the family to dress him in simple clothes during his burial and share out all his other clothes to the needy.
He asked his family to read the book of Ecclesiastes 4:1-3.
His body was moved to Moi County Referral Hospital awaiting autopsy.
