Over 50 families in Mathare slums have been left homeless after their houses were razed down by fire on Monday night.

According to the Kenya Red Cross Society, the incident occurred in Mlango Kubwa area.

Nairobi Police Boss Adamson Bongei confirmed the incident and said the cause of the fire is yet to be established.

He said police are investigating the incident. The victims appealed for help to reconstruct the structures.

No injuries were reported in the incident, police said.
