Third Basis formula for allocation

The Senate has for the tenth time adjourned to allow for a consensus on the Third Basis formula for allocation among counties by a Special Committee formed by opposing sides.

The senate adjourned on Monday night after Siaya Senator James Orengo moved the motion to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Samuel Poghisio.

The 12-member committee consists of Mutula Kilonzo Jnr (Makueni), Johnson Sakaja, Kipchumba Murkomen (Elgeyo Marakwet), Ledama Ole Kina (Narok), Susan Kihika (Nakuru), Stewart Madazyo (Kilifi), Samson Cherargei (Nandi), Moses Kajwang (Homa Bay), Moses Wetang’ula (Bungoma), Anwar Loitiptip (Lamu), and Nderitu Kinyua (Laikipia).

Orengo had said it was possible to have a special sitting on Tuesday next week at 2.30pm.
