A Rwandan has been arrested in Kisauni for the theft of mobile phones in the area.
Following intelligence reports, Ndaziziye Augustin Umurundi, was nabbed by DCI officers from the coast headquarters.
According to the DCI, Umurundi is suspected of receiving stolen mobile phones in Kisauni and its surroundings. He was arrested in his residence and several phones were recovered after a thorough search.

During the search, authorities uncovered a trove of ten mobile phones and a power bank, all believed to be stolen.
Among the recovered devices, three have been successfully identified and linked to their rightful owners: a Tecno Spark KJ5, snatched from Stephen Omondi in the Tudor area on November 5, 2024; a Tecno Spark K15K, taken from Aberdeen Jafferji at Nyali Bridge on November 1, 2024; and a Samsung Galaxy A15, stolen from Charles Ogeyo in the Mishomoroni area on November 4, 2024.
The detectives are currently conducting an analysis to identify the IMEI numbers and owners of the remaining phones. Ndaziziye is currently in police custody undergoing processing and will be arraigned in court.
