Impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Sunday criticized President William Ruto, asserting that the President has failed to deliver on his promises to the people of Kenya.
During a church service in Kiambu, Gachagua cited over-taxation and a struggling healthcare system as clear signs of poor governance.
He called on Kenyans to pray for President Ruto, hoping God would grant him the wisdom to steer the country in the right direction.
“The President has a big job to do,” Gachagua said. “We ask for prayers for him, for God to give him wisdom so that Kenyans can experience some relief in their daily lives.”

Gachagua emphasized that these prayers could help his former boss navigate the challenges facing Kenyans. Once allies, the two have now become estranged, with Gachagua’s impeachment by Parliament marking the culmination of their falling out.
Meanwhile, Gachagua is fighting his impeachment in court, despite three previous setbacks in the case. The High Court is scheduled to hear the state’s appeal on Tuesday against the conservatory orders that stopped the swearing-in of Deputy President-elect Kithure Kindiki, whom President Ruto has nominated as Gachagua’s replacement, a move that Gachagua is determined to block.
