In a decisive move aimed at addressing the nation’s pressing challenges, President William Ruto unveiled his new cabinet nominees today, marking a significant step in the government’s commitment to economic transformation and inclusive growth. The announcement at State House Nairobi follows a period of intense public discourse on governance, economic management, and national development.

President Ruto acknowledged the recent period of national introspection, noting that Kenya’s democratic credentials were rigorously tested. “Over the past month, Kenya has engaged in a difficult public conversation, providing an opportunity to reflect deeply on the relationship between fundamental rights and democratic freedoms,” he stated. The President emphasized the government’s responsibility to actualize the aspirations of the people, ensuring efficient and integrity-driven service delivery.

Key issues identified by the President include accelerating food production to reduce living costs, expanding job creation programs to tackle unemployment, and fostering public dialogue on the prudent and transparent use of public resources. The government also aims to address the critical challenge of public debt through clear mechanisms to reduce borrowing and enhance financial management.

“In response to the challenges and opportunities before us, I have consulted extensively on enhancing our national economic turnaround plan,” President Ruto announced. This plan, embedded in the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, seeks to incorporate a broader range of ideas and programs to drive job creation, robust debt management, transparency, and accountability in public resource use.
