A police officer caught on camera demanding a bribe has been interdicted.

Coast regional police boss Rashid Yakub said the officer identified as Crispus Katana, an administration police officer was dismissed from the force and will be arraigned in court.

The officer was working in Magarini sub county

During the altercation, Katana drew his gun when the charcoal transporters he was demanding bribe from tried to fight him.

The officers almost exchanged blows with another police officer who was present at the scene.

According to Yakub, Katana’s conduct has been wanting

“We have already interdicted him. We cannot tolerate such nonsense. This officer lacks discipline and we cannot condone that. I congratulate the person who took the video,” he said.

In the video, one of the bodaboda rider is heard saying he had already paid the bribe.

After the seven minutes altercation, the AP officer gets back into the police land cruiser and drives away leaving the riders and his colleague at the scene.
