My life is in danger, claims Mwaganda

Mtepeni member of County assembly Victor Mwaganda is living in fear after allegedly receiving threats from security officers in Kilifi south sub county.

Mwaganda has already recorded a statement with the Directorate of Criminal investigation DCI over the claims.

The MCA alleged that he received threatening calls from the Kilifi south DCC, DCIO and the sub county police commander for Kilifi south.

Speaking in Kilifi on Monday after recording his statement, Mwaganda said the officers called him with the same message that he is a threat to the security of the sub county.

“The DCC called me late in the night and the DCIO. The OCPD was the first person to call me the following morning with a similar message. This real got me thinking about my security. I have not incited anyone and the same people whom I expect to protect me are the ones threatening me,” he said

Kilifi county criminal investigation officer Christopher Chesoli confirmed that the MCA recorded statement and the officers he is accusing will also record statements.

“The MCA came accompanied by some of his electorates and he presented his fears and we could not take them lightly. He is a leader and he has many people behind him.  We opened a file of inquiry which once complete we will forward to the director of public prosecution for directions,” said Chesoli

The MCA said the threats are as a result of his resolve to defend the rights of his people.

“Recently I made a statement with other leaders over the disappearance of two men who went missing after attending a case at the shanzu law courts. I called on the police to investigate the matter and tell us where the two men are. This is the genesis of the threats,” he said

The MCA was accompanied by other MCAs, religious leaders and Eric Mgoja.
