Mombasa ODM Chair Mohammed Hatimy succumbs to COVID-19

Mombasa ODM chairperson Mohammed Hatimy has passed on, Speaker Ibrahim Khatri has confirmed.

Hatimy is also a nominated Member of the Mombasa County Assembly (MCA)

He died on Saturday morning after his lungs collapsed while undergoing treatment at the Mombasa Hospital’s intensive care unit.

Hatimy was among several Mombasa MCAs who were reported to be Coronavirus positive.

“He had initially tested positive for Covid-19, but he, later on, tested negative. However, the lungs were badly affected and he was taken to ICU, where he died this morning” said Khatri.

Hatimy also served as the chairperson of the powerful Finance Committee in Mombasa County Assembly.

He will be buried at Kikowani Cemetry after the 1 pm prayers at Ummu Kultum Mosque.
