Two-time Matsangoni Member of County Assembly aspirant Sammy Ambari is dead.
Ambari, 48, died on Sunday evening after committing suicide in his house at Mkongani Village in Matsangoni.
Kilifi North Sub County Police Commander Kenneth Maina confirmed the incident.
Morris Ambari, a young brother of the deceased, said Ambari committed suicide in the bedroom of his children.
“Sammy has been going through a lot. He has been facing financial challenges since last August. We as a family have been there for him but we were shocked to learn that he had committed suicide,” he said
According to Morris, Sammy started to withdraw from people around August this year.

“He started to act weird. He hardly shared anything with anyone. I personally approached him because we are very close. He told me for a man to live he must have money. We had agreed that I would provide him with some money and I was actually to give him the money today but unfortunately, he hanged himself yesterday,” he added
The body was discovered hanging by his wife after she returned from church.
Sammy worked as a Radio presenter at Pwani FM before venturing in politics.
He vied for the Matsangoni MCA seat and lost twice.
He was a supplier with the Kilifi county government.
His close allies said Sammy has been trying to get payments from the county government of Kilifi without success.
“Sammy had loans and he was forced to sell his car to offset some of the loans. He has been walking in the offices trying to get his payment but they did not come through. He has died a frustrated man,” said one of his friends.
An autopsy conducted on Monday at the Kilifi County Hospital indicated that Sammy died of asphyxiation due to hanging.
