The suspect, Sebi Obonyo, is said to have gone to his ex-girlfriend’s current boyfriend’s house in Nyakbong’ village, Kamjulu, on Friday around 4:45pm. He allegedly stabbed her twice, on the left ear and chest, using a sharp object.

Neighbours who heard the woman scream rushed to the scene. Their quick action is believed to have saved her life as they forced the attacker to flee before he could do more harm.

The woman was bleeding heavily and was rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, where doctors are working to save her life.

Police say early reports from residents show that Obonyo was angry that his ex-girlfriend had left him for another man. He reportedly took advantage of her being alone in her new boyfriend’s house to carry out the attack.

As the woman remains in critical condition, police and locals are teaming up to find the suspect and bring him to justice.

Police have urged anyone with information on Obonyo’s whereabouts to report to the nearest station.
