Kilifi county has reported a new covid-19 case barely a week after Kilifi governor Amason Kingi announced that the county if now covid-19 free.

In a statement from the county covid-19 surveillance team, the case was reported in Kaloleni Sub County after the patient crossed over from Mombasa County.

“Last week our Kaloleni Sub County Covid -19 surveillance team received a call from a concerned citizen that a man who works in Mombasa County had sneaked into Kibaokiche, Kaloleni Sub County in Kilifi County, despite the cessation of movements between the two counties. Unfortunately tracing this gentleman wasn’t easy as he had switched off his phone and moved out of his home in KibaoKiche. He was only traced yesterday when his uncle took him to Mariakani Sub County hospital where his sample was taken for testing. This morning his results came out positive for Covid-19,” read a statement from the team.
