Kilifi county police commander Nelson Taliti has warned youths against joining the Mombasa Republican Council (MRC).
Speaking in Kilifi on Tuesday, Taliti said police patrols have been heightened across the county to repulse any resurgence of the group.

“We have increased our patrols across all major towns and Chonyi area. We want to assure everyone that security in Kilifi is in place. My appeal to the youth is that they should keep off crime because the police are more alert,” said Taliti.
In November, a group of MRC members was allegedly spotted in Rare, Vitengeni division.
The group allegedly was in the area to conduct oathing exercise to recruit new members.
Ganze Sub county police Commander Timothy Muasya said several chiefs were arrested for interrogation to explain how they failed to report on time.
During the Christmas celebrations, no serious security cases were reported
