Kenya records 6 new covid-19 cases

Kenya has reported six new coronavirus cases, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

This now brings the country’s total number to 197.

In a press statement to media houses on Sunday, Kwagwe further announced that one patient died of covid-19 in Siaya bringing the number of deaths to eight.

One patient was also discharged from hospital bringing the number of people who have recovered to 25.

The patient has been on a ventilator for some time.

 Kagwe said a total of 766 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

“Of the six new cases five are males and one is a female.  Five of them are Kenyans while one is a foreigner,” read the statement

Out of the six, four are from Nairobi while Mombasa and Siaya counties had one case each.

The CS said five of the cases are from mandatory quarantine centres, while one was picked by surveillance teams through contact tracing.
