Kenya records 45 new covid-19 cases

The number of people who have tested positive for covid-19 in the country has risen to 535.

This is after 45 more people tested positive to the coronavirus. This is the highest number recorded in 24 hours since the virus was first reported in the country, March this year.

The cases were confirmed from 1077 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

6 people were discharged bringing the number of recoveries to 182.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Tuesday said out of the 45 cases, 29 are from Nairobi, 11 from Mombasa and 5 from Wajir.

Kagwe further said the 29 cases from Nairobi were recorded in Eastleigh. Eastleigh now has 63 cases.

A total of 30 of the new cases are male while 15 are female.

One is a foreign national from Somalia.

Kagwe expressed concerns that people are ignoring government protocols in the fight against the covid-19 pandemic.

“People send me messages in anger having observed people sitting outside bars drinking away, others sitting together during Ramadan, even against advice of leaders,” he said.
