Istiqama high school posts good performance

Istiqama secondary school in Mombasa County has posted sterling performance in the 2020 Kenya certificate of secondary education examination.

Speaking to the media in Mombasa, Goso Mohammed the school’s Principal said despite the covid-19 challenges they have emerged as one of the best performing schools in the county.

He lauded the entire school management for their effort towards the success of the students.

“All the teachers have been working towards the excellence of the students. We have played our part and we all knew that our efforts would one day bear fruits,” noted Mohammed.

Ogwire Nanjala the best student with an A-minus says discipline was the key to his sterling performance.

The student adds that he spent most of his time in books at a time the country was battling with the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I spent most of my time reading and revising on what I had learnt in school. I again trusted in God knowing that he would assist me in my studies,” said Ogwire.

He further thanked the teachers for dedicating their time to the studies.

The 19-year-old student says he wants to become a surgeon.

 Meanwhile, Istiqama secondary school Director Omar Sharif asked donors and well-wishers to come out and assist the less fortunate in the community.

He says the top student has been performing impressively since his admission 4 years ago.

Mr Omar explained that the school has been giving a sterling performance for the last three consecutive years.

Mr Sharrif said despite the challenges of Covid-19 the administration has continually assisted students through online classes.

Memon Academy High school Ashraf Mohammed who attained an A Plain 81 points attributes time management as a key towards his performance.

He says “I expected good marks. I would like to study civil engineering at the University of Nairobi,”

The schools Principal Joseph Kangethe said due to the Covid-19 challenges the school resorted to online classes.

“Despite the myriad of challenges we were able to produce an A plain and 8 minuses,” said Kang’ethe.
