The government has been urged to invest more in the blue economy sector.
The appeal has been made by Blue Radio executive director Gilbert Were.
“It is high time the government invested in the maritime sector. There is quite a big potential in this sector that remains underexploited,” Were noted.
Were said apart from the government having invested in various sectors such as agriculture and mining the focus should now be directed to the blue economy. He said most of the opportunities in the maritime sector have not been fully exploited.
“So much has been put into the agriculture sector. What is now required is to invest in the blue economy,” he said.
The Blue Radio boss also called on the youths to opportunities available in the blue economy sector. He said many investors have ventured into the sector.
“The sector is so vast. There are so many opportunities in this sector that once harnessed can be of so much benefit to our youths,” he noted.
He urged the youth to work hard in pursuit of their dreams. Were, who is also the founder of Blue Radio, formerly known as Gilitics Media, also urged the youths to join youth organisations that have ventured into the maritime sector.
