A prison warder was Sunday morning shot and killed by his colleague at the Hola Prison in Tana River County.
Confirming the incident, County Police Commander Fredrick Ochieng said Joseph Katama was pronounced dead on arrival at the Malindi Sub-county hospital.
The incident took place at around 6am.

“The suspect was given a pistol to hand to the armoury when he accidentally shot his colleague identified as Joseph Katama. It appears the officer did not check the gun only to realize that it had an extra bullet,” said Ochieng.
The suspect was disarmed and locked up pending disciplinary action.
The county commander said there is no known conflict between the two officers.
