Governor fires CEC Member for refusing to step down in a political contest against his brother

A sitting governor in the coast region has fired his finance CEC Member for refusing to shelve his plans to contest against his (governor) brother in a parliamentary seat.

Whispers has learnt that the governor called the CECM and commanded him to drop his ambitions in favour of his brother but the CECM declined.

He blatantly told the governor that he cannot pull out of the race in favour of his brother because he had already made a good following in the constituency.

“Immediately the CECM left, the governor called the county secretary and ordered him to write a sacking letter for the CECM. As the CECM was going back to the constituency in his official car, he was stopped and the vehicle detained,” whispered a source.

The source further said the governor also called a former CECM who is also running for the same seat and asked him to drop his ambition and he would appoint him as a CECM.

It is not yet clear if the former CECM will accept the offer.

According to the source, the governor devised the formula to discourage his brother from going for the gubernatorial seat which the governor is fielding another candidate.
