Kilifi governor hopeful Gideon Mung’aro has promised to set aside funds to buy land to resettle squatters once elected governor.
Speaking at St. Joseph’s catholic church in Vipingo where he attended a church service, Mung’aro said the squatter problem in Kilifi needs innovative ways of addressing it.
“When I served as the CAS for lands I was able through the President to buy several parcels of land in Mikanjuni, Mtwapa and the Mazrui land. My plan is to device a way where the government will set funds to buy off all the absentee landlords land so that our people can be resettled,” he said.
He said several title deeds for Kilifi have been processed during his tenure at the lands ministry
He further called for peaceful campaigns.
He was accompanied by Junju ward MCA Said Juma Idd, Chasimba MCA Kazungu Mbura and Kilifi north ODM parliamentary aspirant Eliud Kalama.
