Gachagua to launch his political party in February

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is set to launch his party in early February in preparation for the 2027 General Elections.

Gachagua is keen to consolidate Mount Kenya’s vote base which has become agitated since his removal from office.

On Sunday, while attending a church service in Laikipia County, Gachagua disclosed that his political party will be unveiled next month.

“In two weeks, I will give you direction and will do it in a live television interview. Currently, I am still consulting but early next month I will make a pronouncement,” Gachagua said at Matanya PCEA, Laikipia County.

His allies have confirmed that the plans to unveil the party are ready.

Embakasi North MP James Gakuya said Gachagua’s political vehicle would be unveiled in the next few weeks.

“The People’s Deputy President will soon, in the next weeks launch the party that will shake the country’s political landscape,” Gakuya said.

Former Laikipia Woman Representative Catherine Waruguru said plans are ready for the launch of the party.

“We are ready and the party will be unveiled next month,” Catherine Waruguru said.

It is not clear if the former DP will acquire an existing party or unveil a newly registered political party.

Recently, the office of the political parties registrar has issued provisional registration certificates to some parties seeking full registration ahead of the 2027 polls.

Gachagua has come under immense pressure from his allies to unveil his political vehicle as part of the plans to consolidate Mount Kenya ahead of the 2027 polls.

He has already started meeting various aspirants eyeing his yet-to-be-launched political party.

The former DP is planning to sponsor aspirants in various elective seats to challenge those allied to President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza government.

Gachagua’s Wamunyoro Residence has become a beehive of activities will several politicians trooping to his rural home to seek his blessings ahead of the 2027 polls.
