Kilifi County is hosting a County level engagement forum as part of activities to commemorate the ongoing 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

The forum which is ongoing at the Juwaba hall brings together over 200 participants.

The event aims to provide a platform for stakeholders to discuss strategies for combating sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) and promoting human rights. Organized under the theme of activism and inclusivity, the forum will bring together a diverse group of participants. 

Participants are drawn from Malindi, Bamba, Wazo, Kilifi, Kibarani, Nawiri Africa, Sokoni social justice centres.

Kilifi Mums CBO, People Living with Disabilities (PLWD), and SGBV Duty Bearers were also in attendance 

The forum promises to be a collaborative effort, uniting local activists, duty bearers, community leaders, and other stakeholders to strengthen efforts toward ending violence against women and girls.

In addition to addressing SGBV issues, the meeting will provide a unique opportunity for participants to share their experiences and create actionable recommendations to guide future interventions. 

The organizers have urged all participants to adhere to the scheduled time and actively contribute to the discussions.

“This forum is an important milestone in our fight against gender-based violence. We call upon all participants to come prepared and share insights that will impact the community positively,” said one of the organizers. 

This engagement aligns with the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a global campaign observed annually from November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) to December 10 (Human Rights Day).  Participants and stakeholders are reminded to arrive on time and make the most of the opportunity to amplify their voices in the fight for justice and equality.
