Kilifi county Assembly speaker Teddy Mwambire says plans to revive the Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani economic bloc are underway.
This he says will attract both domestic and foreign investors in the Jumuiya counties.
‘’We are in the process of reviving the JKP in order to attract investors in Kilifi. This I believe shall play a critical role in scaling up the economy of the county,” he said.
Mwambire notes that once revived the bloc will attract investors and scale up not only the economy of the county, but the entire Coastal region.
He further added that the county intends to add value to some of the resources in a bid to upscale the county’s economy.
Noted Mwambire “We must add value to some of our products including the coconut tree, which is one of the most useful crops in Kilifi county,’’

He cited the coconut sector as one of the sectors that requires value addition in the county adding that it has not been fully exploited.
‘’This is one of the areas that we can venture into as a county. We can do this by adding value to the coconut value chain,’’
He noted that talks are at an advanced stage to ensure that the coconut tree benefits Kilifi county.
On the issue of pending bills, the speaker pointed out that only genuine bills will be paid.
The former Ganze member of parliament noted that some of the pending bills were illegally acquired.
Some of the people are taking advantage of the new administration. We must critically look into those bills before thay are dully paid. Some were acquired illegally.” He said.
The former Ganze MP further indicated that the news administration is commited to ensuring that locals benefit from all county services.
He added, ‘’we are committed to ensure that the county is transformed to an economically viable county,’’
He promised Kilifi county residents of an economically stable county with tremendous changes in the next two to three years.
