A letter circulating on social media claiming that the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has summoned social media influencer Hanifa Farsafi is fake.
EACC spokesperson Eric Ngumbi confirmed that Farsafi is not under investigation by the commission. “This letter is fake and not from EACC. The Commission does not have any investigation relating to Hanifa Farsafi or her institution,” Ngumbi stated.

Ngumbi explained that the letter is likely the work of individuals posing as EACC officers to defraud Kenyans. “The letter is written as part of actions by an increasing number of criminals who have been defrauding Kenyans, pretending to carry out investigations against them or spreading false narratives to achieve ulterior motives or undermine public confidence in the fight against corruption,” he added.
The fake letter claimed that the commission had summoned Farsafi regarding funds raised through M-Changa and requested her to bring any relevant documents and information related to the fundraising. It indicated that she was to present herself at the Integrity Centre by 9 am on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.
Farsafi responded to the letter on her X account with a laughing emoji, questioning, “What is this?”
