Parents and civil society organizations in Taita Taveta County have launched a campaign to compel the County assembly to ban mugukaa chewing through legislation.
Speaking on Saturday in Voi town, Waky Jirongo from the civil society said the use of muguka by the youths has led to poor performance in education.
He also claimed it has affected the population growth of the county.
“I take this initiative to ask the county Assembly of Taita Taveta, to draft a Bill that will abolish the business of muguka in the county. We are losing young and energetic people who can lead in the development agenda of the county?” he said
