Kilifi south MP Ken Chonga has publicly declared his interested for the Kilifi gubernatorial position come 2022.
This brings the number of the possible candidates for the post to four. Others are Kilifi North MP Owen Baya, Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and Lands CAS Gideon Mung’aro.
Speaking at Bamba trading centre during the homecoming party for Pwani University President Fikirini Jacobs, Chonga called on the resident to support his bid.

“I know people will ask why I am always in Ganze. It has been rumoured that I will be vying for something else in 2022. When I come asking for that thing please support me,” said Chonga
Chonga had accompanied Ganze MP Teddy Mwambire to the function.
He said he will not vie for the post as a Chonyi or a Mijikenda but as a resident of Kilifi County.
“We need to nurture leaders. Kilifi needs a leader who is development conscious and has the ability to unite the county. I am equal to this task,” added Chonga.
He scolded leaders who uses the challenges facing Ganze to gain popularity.

“We have seen in the media the challenges facing Mangororo primary and other schools in Ganze. If you want to assist the situation please do so with the intention of improving the infrastructure of the school but not for political gain. I will personally make my donation out of good will. Any leader who will be coming to help Ganze should do so without undermining the leadership of the area,” he said
