Bango’s songbird Matilda Ngala to be laid to rest this week

Matilda Ngala, Bango’s song bird will be buried this week.

Mati as she is fondly known will be laid to rest at the Frere town cementary behind Kongowea Market in Mombasa.

The undisputed queen of Bango died on March 9th. She was born in 1977.

A confirmation from the family indicated that she will be buried on Thursday.

“According to the programme the body will leave the mortuary on Thursday. The cortege will go to our Frere town home for viewing then the body will be taken to Kengeleni St. Emmanuel ACK church for a mass and then to her final resting place at the Frere town cemetery,” said Caroline Bahati

Bahati also gave a brief of Matilda’s ailment.

“Matilda started ailing from March last year. One of her kidney had a problem and her left leg also. She was treated in several hospitals such as Sayada Fatma, Bomu, Coast General Teaching and Refferal Hospital and Kilifi county hospital. She was also diagnosed with Tuberclosis (TB). She also suffered paralysis on her left leg,” She said

Matilda was born to Mzee Joseph Ngala of Bango Sounds and Mama Margaret Ngala.

She was the eighth born.
