Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill, 2020

Kenya National Union of Teachers’ KNUT has urged teachers to back up the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill, 2020 saying the document will address to the latter their unending concerns.

KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion said BBI has factored in some of the teething challenges facing teachers across the country.

Sossion further urged teachers to actively participate in politics adding that teachers have a constitutional right to determine who sits in the presidency.

“Politics is key to all the teachers. Let us unite as teachers and instil a president of our choice. I ask all teachers to support the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill, 2020 as it has keyed in our concerns,” said the KNUT SG.

Sossion further faulted the national government claiming that it failed during the rolling out of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

“CBC is not the best for this country. This curriculum is the product of ‘intellectual dwarfism’

“The SG also took issue with the TPAD calling it valueless for teachers,”

He also wants the government to promote teachers regardless of their academic grades.

“We want all teachers to be promoted to the next level,” explained the KNUT boss.
