Assist us bring back our abducted kin, government told

Nyundo Chaka

A family in Likoni sub county, Mombasa County has asked the government to find their lost kin allegedly abducted by armed men aboard three vehicles.

The victim, Nyondo Chaka, a canter driver working for a parcel delivery company in Mombasa County is alleged to have been abducted on Tuesday, January 26 at Samburu along the Mombasa Nairobi highway.

Speaking to journalists in Mombasa on Tuesday, Khadija Mkuta, a wife to the abductee said efforts to trace her husband have so far borne no fruits.

Ms Mkuta adds that her husband was the sole breadwinner and a father of four schooling children.

“We have reported the matter to all police stations but all our efforts have proved futile. We are seeking assistance so that the government can do something on this issue,” she lamented.

Juma Chaka, a brother to the victim, called on local leaders to chip in and assist the family for the loss.

“Nyondo was abducted while driving near Jirani Shop located in Samburu, Kwale County. Government kindly intervene,” said Juma.

Shaban Lugwe, another close relative says cases of forceful abduction in Mombasa County are on the rise.

According to Lugwe, Nyondo led a spotless life urging anyone with information to report to the family and the relevant authorities.

“The government should come out straight and clear our doubts. If he is dead let us know as family members.

Haki Africa deputy executive director Salma Hemed says a total of 4 cases have so far been reported since January this year.

She adds that out of the 4 cases, 2 are from Mombasa County, 1 from Lamu County and one from Garsen in Tana River County.

“There are cameras all over what makes it too difficult for the government to unearth this mystery?”
