Beauty is not defined by specific colour or tone. If you prefer to lighten your skin tone, then you have to consider the method you use to lighten your skin tone.

Skin lightening products can easily be accessed over the counter in most chemists and cosmetic shops. These commercially available products are harmful and can end up making the situation worse. For better results you should look for safer natural ways of making your skin lighter and attractive. Lightening your skin is not something that will come in a single day. What this means is that you should be consistent and make it a routine. Most of the ingredients are not harmful hence you can leave it to settle for the whole night.

Here are the most popular and functional natural ways of lightening your skin.

1. Lemon Juice

From ancient times, lemon has proved to be a very popular product that has for the years been used to improve skin tone and clear several other skin conditions.

The citric acid in lemon lightly bleaches the skin and ends up exfoliating the top layer of your skin.

To achieve best results, squeeze lemon juice in a clean container to make a solution. Apply it to your skin at least twice a day using a cotton ball. Leave it to settle and then wash it later. Repeat the process more often until you get your desired results.

2. Lemon Milk soak

If you want full body lightening, this is for you. Take two lemons and squeeze the lemon juice. Mix the juice with a cup of full-fat milk. Pour the solution in warm water. Make sure that the milk and the lemon are spread the right way. Then soak in the mixture for about an hour and later rinse yourself.

3. Yogurt Honey Mask

Just like milk, yogurt contains skin lightening enzymes. On the other hand, honey has moisturizing and antibacterial properties. Mix the two ingredients to make a nourishing mask. Allow the mixture to sit for 5 minutes and apply it to your skin. Leave it for 20 minutes and then rinse it with warm water.

6. Aloe Vera Gel

Aloe Vera is found as an ingredient in most of the commercial skin lightening products in the market. It contains Vitamin A, C, and E. These vitamins are natural exfoliators which limit the production of free radicles. Mix a teaspoon of Aloe Vera with a teaspoon of lemon juice and mix well. Then apply it on your skin and wash after 30 minutes.

Chop potatoes into smaller chunks and later crash them to make a paste. You can also use the juice to make the paste.

Make a paste from the potatoes and lemon and later apply it on the skin. Leave it for some time and wash.

8. Cucumber

Cucumber binds collagen and also ensures that your skin is firm. It also has a cooling effect on the skin. Slice Cucumber and place them directly on the dark skin areas to lighten it. Leave it to settle before washing it using lukewarm water.
