14 people died on the spot while 13 others sustained injuries in an accident along Lodwar-Kakuma road, Turkana County.
Turkana Central Sub County Commander Lemmy Njiru confirmed the incident.
Njiru said the accident occured on Saturday night at around 10pm along Lodwar Kakuma road at Kakwamunyen area.
The accident involved a lorry that had carried passengers.
He said eight female adults, three male adults and three children died and 13 injured including the driver.
He said the Lorry was also loaded with assorted goods.
“The vehicle was being driven to Kakuma direction and upon reaching at the location of the accident, there was a camel that was crossing the road from left to right and the driver swarved to the right to avoid hitting it,” He said.

Lemmy said the driver lost control of the vehicle due to the overload of the vehicle and it overtuned.
He said the vehicle landed in a culvert on the right side of the road causing death, injuries of the people and vehicle extensively damaged.
He said the survivors were all rushed to Lodwar County and referral hospital for treatment as the bodies were moved to the same facility mortuary awaiting autopsy.
